MSABI is an emerging leader in the provision of water, sanitation and hygiene programs across East Africa.
Today, we're active across three Tanzanian districts covering an area of approximately 50,000 km² (larger than the size of Switzerland) with a population of 800,000 people. In Tanzania only 47% of the rural population have access to safe water and only 15% to improved sanitation. In an assessment done of over 1,500 water access points in the region, over 75% were found to be unsafe shallow dug holes or rivers and streams. In the remote rural areas we work in many families walk hours every day to fetch water.
Imagine a day without clean water for you and your family...
MSABI works with communities to identify their needs and develops local businesses that improve family livelihoods and wellbeing. We don’t just dig wells or build a toilet and then duck out like many others. Within the past 5 years, and through a community demand-driven approach, MSABI has provided access to safe water and sanitation to an estimated 85,000 people; while our education programs have reached more than 350,000 people. MSABI is creating a centre of excellence for WASH implementation, training and research to build East African capacity, self-reliance and sustainability. Learn more about us here.
